Bandon youth only. The Bandon Community Youth Center provides after school homework help Monday-Thursday 3:30-5:00 pm, with 30-60 minutes engaged in STEM (math/science/environment), art, gardening and other outdoor activities, plus a Robotics Club for younger programmers open to grades 1-6, while also offering assorted winter workshops for high school aged students and Leadership opportunities AND summer camps.  The Bandon Community Preschool now leases a portion of our building as a compatible use during hours when otherwise vacant. The after school program primarily serves grades 4-8 and offers Leadership Hours to high school student aids and we employ a high school senior as Program Assistant. Robotics club for students grades 1-6

A resource center and outreach program for youth and families who are in need of help and resources, or who might be homeless. The ARK Project of Coos County’s mission is to help youth build strong foundations by fostering self-sufficiency, removing barriers to services and education, and providing centralized access to resources. We are committed to treating youth and families with integrity, compassion, and respect. Through community collaboration, we empower youth to grow into healthy, productive, and independent members of society. We provide free services and opportunities for youth ages 0-22 and their families.

Paid and Unpaid Training Opportunities: mostly for clients with TANF: “Construction Crew,” “On-the-Job training (paid),” “Work Experience (unpaid),” “Jobs +(paid: single parents).”

Workshops: Must complete registration process prior to scheduling workshops. Call or visit SCBEC to discuss registration. Variety of workshops designed to assist in job search.

Senior Services:

The Area Agency on Aging provides in-home services for older adults, including respite care and personal care. Provides congregate meals through community partners and delivers in-home meals to older adults who are homebound due to illness, disability, or isolation. Community meals are offered in Bandon, Brookings, Coos Bay, North Bend, Coquille, Gold Beach, Myrtle Point, and at the Lakeside Senior Center. Also provides information and referral to other services.
